Primary source AGC Biologics: Global Pharmaceutical Company Commits to a Dual-Site Deal with AGC Biologics Exceeding €0.5 Billion

AGC Biologics announced on 3 November 2026 that it has expanded a long-term manufacturing agreement with a global pharmaceutical company by adding a second supply node at its Copenhagen facility. The customer is not named. The release says customer names are not disclosed without the customer’s consent.
What the deal covers
The expansion builds on an existing agreement anchored at the Yokohama site, which covers five commercial biologics programs. The new part covers multi-product drug substance manufacturing across six biologics programs in Copenhagen. The release lists process transfer, scale-up, validation and commercial production as the scope.
Products will launch and move across facilities with several dual regulatory submissions, meaning a product is filed for more than one manufacturing site. The release says this is meant to optimize capacity, cost and local manufacturing benefits, and to reach a level of flexibility and supply chain robustness that a single-site arrangement could not. It also says running multiple sites as one integrated supply node lets both companies move production quickly between locations as needs change.
The Copenhagen site
The release says the 2024 expansion of the Copenhagen site added 18,000 square meters across manufacturing, quality control laboratories, and technical and warehouse areas. It lists:
- Eight 2,000-liter single-use bioreactor production lines
- One 500-liter perfusion bioreactor
- Two downstream purification lines
AGC Biologics also says two of its customers have already decided to co-launch their products from both its Seattle and Copenhagen facilities. The release cites BDO’s bioTRAK database for the claim that the company maintains one of the largest global networks of single-use manufacturing capacity by volume. We did not open that database.
What the release does not say
It does not name the customer, the products, the modalities beyond “biologics”, the volumes, the start dates or the split of the contract value between the two sites.
